
Winnebago - Myrtle Eva Schenck, 87, of Winnebago, died Thursday night, August 21, 2008, in Neighbors Nursing Home. Born September 6, 1920, in Byron, the daughter of James Blair and Nellie (Moore) Swigart. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1938. Myrtle married Harold F. Schenck on June 15, 1940, in Winnebago. She was a telephone operator for three years and then farmed with her husband. Myrtle was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, in Winnebago, having served on numerous committees, and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. She received honorary life membership from the United Presbyterian Women in 1993. Myrtle also was a member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau and the Monday Nighters Club. When her family was young, she helped many years with 4-H work. Myrtle volunteered at the Winnebago school district and enjoyed crafting and knitting.
Myrtle is lovingly survived by her two children, Harold J. Schenck of Winnebago and Barbara J. Mentjes of Linn Creek, Mo.; grandson, Matthew Mentjes of Osage Beach, Mo.; brother, Jim (Dee) Swigart of Winnebago; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband; Harold Schenck on August 14, 1999; and two sisters, Hazel Irene Crawford and Marion Lucille Lund.

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2008, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, in Pecatonica.
