Obituary for Patricia "Pat" Mae Koning
Patricia “Pat” Mae Koning, 78, of Winnebago, died peacefully, Friday, June 24, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. She was born December 17, 1943 in Rockford, the daughter of Frank Bonner and Evelyn Mae (Peterson) Miller. She graduated from Byron High School in 1962. Pat married Ralph Edward Koning on October 14, 1962 at the Middle Creek Presbyterian Church near Winnebago.

Pat worked at the Winnebago County Farm Bureau in Rockford for 27 years and in the banquet department at Giovanni’s Restaurant in Rockford. She also farmed with her husband Ralph raising cattle, hogs and sheep. She was an active 4-H volunteer. She enjoyed camping, going to antique stores, attending county fairs and reading.

The family would like to thank family friend Ruth Rummel and the staff at Prairie View Assisted Living Community in Winnebago for their excellent care of Pat.

Pat is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph Koning of Winnebago; daughter, Kathy (Moose) McClure of Winnebago; son, Jeff (Jennifer) Koning of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Breanna Koning of Loves Park, Brittani (Sid) DeVries of Scioto Mills; great-grandchildren, Jeilyn, Lucas and Kayce DeVries; several nephews and nieces.

Pat is predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Chloe Paige DeVries; sister, Mary Dummer.

Cremation rites accorded with a family interment at Middle Creek Cemetery near Winnebago. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
