Obituary for Paul Branscomb

German Valley - L. Paul Branscomb, 83, of German Valley, died Wednesday night, March 24, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness. Born July 10, 1926, in Osage, Wyoming, the son of Lorenzo Ben and Mamie Faye (Rutledge) Branscomb. Paul married Eleanor Darlene Douglas on November 18, 1945, in Worthington, Mo. They lived in the German Valley and Forreston area for many years. He was a dock worker at Knox Motor Service, Rockford for 30 years and at A.N.R., Rockford for 3 years, retiring November 3, 1983.

Paul is lovingly survived by his sons, Paul Norman (Irene) Branscomb of Mount Morris, Roger (Deborah) Branscomb of Adeline, Kevin (Linda) Branscomb of Freeport and Calvin (Michelle) Branscomb of Rockford; daughters, Ramona (Chet "Red") Mattingley of Salome, Ariz. and Judy (Jerry) Stults of Loves Park; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Bette (John) Sinden of Diamond, Mo. and Marguerite Mattingley of Leaf River; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Eleanor Branscomb; grandsons, Nathan Perrine and Steve Mattingley; great-grandson, Justin Perrine; brother, Robert Dell; and sister, Pauline Branscomb.

Paul's family thanks Helen, Chad and Ben of Passages Hospice for their care and support.

Funeral Information

Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville Road, Leaf River, with the Rev. Jake Ritzema, pastor of German Valley Christian Reformed Church, officiating. Visitation 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
