
Loving Mother and Grandmother
Leaf River - Phyllis A. Roush, 83, of Leaf River, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, following a short illness. Born June 18, 1932, in Naperville, the daughter of Reuben and Hazel (Davis) Stibbe. Graduated from Naperville High School in 1950, Blackburn College, Carlinville, and then Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, in 1954, receiving her bachelor degree in education. Phyllis married Richard D. Roush on July 24, 1954, in Naperville. She taught kindergarten in the Rochelle, Leaf River and Forrestville Valley School Districts for 30 years. Phyllis then clerked at Bergner's for several years. She faithfully worked out at Curves three days a week. Phyllis enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening and canning her garden produce, collecting Santa Clauses and hosting family gatherings. She was especially proud of her grandsons and dearly loved spending time with them.
Phyllis is lovingly survived by her children, Barbara (Cezanne Hendricks) Roush of Napa, CA, Elizabeth (Gary) Gullett of Byron, Mark Roush of Leaf River and Timothy (Heather) Roush of Pecatonica; grandsons, Quinten and Gavin Roush of Pecatonica; great-grandchildren, Elliott and Aurelia Wenger of Belvidere; sister, Roberta Messer of Naperville; Ron (Ginny) Stibbe of Yorkville; sister-in-law, Carol Stibbe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard on December 19, 2006; and brother, Reuben Thomas "R.T." Stibbe.
Funeral Information
Service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time; Pastor Matthew Smith, of Winnebago United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, in Egan Cemetery.
