
Obituary for Phyllis Lee Burns
Phyllis Lee Burns, 66, of Winnebago, went to see her mother in heaven, Friday, January 15, 2021, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. She was born September 28, 1954 in Rockford, the daughter of Harrison Gilbert and Betty Louise (Link) Mason. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1972. Phyllis married Terry Paul Burns on June 17, 1978 at the Winnebago United Methodist Church.
Phyllis was an accounting clerk for Gunite Corporation and Barnes International both in Rockford. She was a member of the Blackhawk Athletic Club in Rockford. She enjoyed traveling in her motorhome, camping, fishing and for over 25 years meeting friends at Nelson Lake Landing in Hayward, WI. Phyllis most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 42 years, Terry Burns of Winnebago; daughters, Tami (Deaion) Berogan of Rockford, Amy (Ken) Garnhart of Winnebago; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Marlin (Carol) Mason of Lena; several nephews and nieces; special dog, Mocha “little Missy”.
Phyllis is predeceased by her parents; brothers, William “Don” Mason, Charles “Chuck” Mason.
A walk through visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Please follow wearing a mask and social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Private interment at Winnebago Cemetery.
