
Obituary for Randall "Randy" Duane Cunningham
Randall “Randy” Duane Cunningham, 63, of Winnebago, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford with his loving family by his side. He was born February 6, 1958 in Rockford, the son of Duane Wallace and Anna Mae (Shaw) Cunningham. Randy married Tamela “Tammy” Leigh Wille on March 7, 1980 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago.
Randy drove truck delivering ice for the Muller Pinehurst Ice Department in Rockford. He was a member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. In his younger years Randy and his friends known as the “Winnebago Dirt Jerkers” raced Enduro motorcycles and he was also a mechanic for Bobby Davis’s late model race car racing at the Rockford Speedway. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson, Corvette, building things, woodworking, visiting Mark Miller at Bud’s Automotive, keeping track of the weather and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Randy was known by all of his friends who nicknamed him “Big R”.
Randy is lovingly survived by his wife, Tammy Cunningham of Winnebago, sons, Steven (Lindsay Carlson) Cunningham of Winnebago, Scott (Katie) Cunningham of Winnebago; grandchildren, Aubrey and Carter Cunningham of Winnebago; brothers-in-law, Craig (Laurie) Wille of Macomb; Earl Gaines of Rockford; sister-in-law, Lisa (Eddy) Calvert of Spottsville, KY; several nephews and nieces.
Randy is predeceased by his parents, Duane and Anna Mae Cunningham; sister, Beverly Gaines.
There will be no public services. Cremation rites accorded with a private family interment at Winnebago Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for new Winnebago Park District little league baseball park benches. Arrangements by Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
