
Obituary for Richard "Dick" Rupprecht
Richard “Dick” Rupprecht, 72, of Winnebago, died Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford following a brief illness. He was born July 26, 1949 in Rockford, the son of Ernest and Katherine “Corrine” (Cassioppi) Rupprecht. He graduated from Boylan Catholic High School in Rockford in 1967. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from November 26, 1968 to December 8, 1972.
Richard was a machinist at Woodward Governor Company in Loves Park for 45 years. He was a member of the Middle Creek Presbyterian Church near Winnebago where he was a deacon and was a volunteer for the Win-Bur-Sew Fire Protection District in Winnebago for 20 years. He was an avid bowler and fisherman and loved spending time with his cocker spaniel Abby.
Richard is survived by his brother, Randy (Judy) Rupprecht of Rockford, his lady, Donna Connors of Winnebago; nephew, Gregory Rupprecht of Machesney Park, niece, Amy Rupprecht of Peoria, AZ; step-son, Greg (Cassidy) Leonard; son, Richard Rupprecht; daughter, Christine Kappes.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Ernest Rupprecht and Corrine Rupprecht Contarino; wife, Sharon Leonard Rupprecht; step-grandson, Cayden Leonard.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m., with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Rd., Winnebago with Reverend Dr. Anita Stuart-Steva officiating. Interment at Middle Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
