Robert “Bob” George Devine, 79, of Winnebago, died Saturday, February 25, 2023, at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford with his family by his side. He was born October 20, 1943 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Frederick Elmer and Elaine Henrietta (Panke) Devine. He graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse, WI in 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Bob married Carol Victoria Clark on April 24, 1971 in Decorah, IA.
Bob worked 30 years at the Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pecatonica, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the United Auto Workers Local 1268. He was a volunteer fireman at the Win-Bur-Sew Fire department in Winnebago. During his retirement Bob fell in love with farming with his best friend Ron Cooksey. Bob enjoyed the Lake Erie fishing trips with his Chrysler buddies, attending summer tractor pulls and drag racing to support the Winnebago boys and was a huge Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Bob most enjoyed spending time with his family and having big family dinners.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Devine of Winnebago; daughters, Heather (Jeff) Pazera of Winnebago, Nichole (Mike) White of Byron; grandchildren, Ashlee Jarvi, Zac Jarvi and fiancé Kelsee Loveridge, Ava Pazera, Austin White, Delayne White; great-granddaughter, Enslee Jarvi; brother, Donald (Cindy) Devine; sisters, Anne Dunn, Noreen Carlson; several nephews and nieces.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Edward Devine, Frank Devine, Richard Devine, John Devine, Patrick Devine; sisters, Joanne Sagen, Mary Rudie.
Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2023, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 126 W. 5th St., Pecatonica with Reverend Dennis M. Morrissy officiating.
