Obituary for Robert L. Montgomery
Pecatonica - Robert L. Montgomery, 75, of Pecatonica, died Friday morning, March 27, 2009, in FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, after a short illness. He was born August 16, 1933, in DeKalb. Robert graduated from Malta High School in 1951, and attended Kishwaukee College and Northern Illinois University. He served as corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert married Dette Meineke on November 28, 1964 in DeKalb United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Dun-Rite Tool and Die in DeKalb for several years, and lastly, he was a manufacturing engineer at Ideal Industry, in Sycamore, where he designed, patented and built several machines. An outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed basketball, golfing and was a member of the archery club in Sycamore. Detail-minded, he enjoyed remodeling and building houses.
Robert is lovingly survived by his wife, Dette Montgomery, of Pecatonica; children, Shannon (Gregg) Lizer of Ridott and Robin (Patti) Twombly of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Schneiderman of Freeport, Timothy (Mayra) Lynch of Bettendorf, Iowa, Chelsey Lizer of Forreston, Charles (Allison) Twombly, (serving in the U.S. Army) stationed in Germany and Samuel Twombly of Pecatonica; great-grandchildren, Corinne Dette and Mitchell Schneiderman, Eva Lynch, and Gage Cederholm; and dear nephew, Rex (Amy) Bissonnette of Cedar Park, Texas.
He was predeceased by his grandparents and father.

Memorial Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009, in Grace Episcopal Church, 10 S. Cherry Avenue, Freeport, with Father George officiating. At Robert's request, cremation rites were accorded.
