
Obituary for Roger E. Remer
Winnebago - Roger E. Remer, 82, lifelong resident of Winnebago, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, in his home, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Born October 20, 1930, in Rockford, the son of Louis C. and Bessie M. (Lohman) Remer. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1949 and attended Lewis College of Science and Technology, Lockport. Roger married Pauline Businga on November 3, 1956, in Grace Methodist Church, Rockford. He was head of the printing department of Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. for 43 years and co-piloted Ingersoll's corporate twin, Queen Air. Roger was an active lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago and was a member of the Kepotah Sportsman Club. His life was devoted to his family and love of flying. Earning his private, commercial, instrument and multi-engine licenses, Roger flew out of many of the local airports and was a part-time flight instructor at Albertus Airport, Freeport. In 2006, the FFA presented him with the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for 50 years of flying.
Roger is lovingly survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline; children, Janice (Brian) Collins of Rockford and Scott Remer of Winnebago; grandchildren, Nicholas Collins of Rockford, and Cole and Kellie Remer of Winnebago; sister, Donna Joyes of Machesney Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, William and Lester; brother-in-law, Norman Joyes; and sister-in-law, Ruby Remer.
Roger's family would like to thank Dr. Edwards, all the staff at ACT, and the ladies in IV therapy at Rockford Health System for their care and support.

Service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in First Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Winnebago St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Steve Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Winnebago, officiating. Burial of cremated remains in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
