Obituary for Ruth Jane Cunningham
Winnebago Ruth Jane Cunningham, 93, of Winnebago entered into heaven on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Anam Care in Rockford. She was born February 6, 1923 in Rockford the daughter of Otto L. and Myrtle L. Hayner Campbell. She was lovingly raised by her step mother Jessie McGeahy and Otto on their farm on Highway 20. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1941 and attended Rockford Business College. Ruth married her high school sweetheart Ralph W. Cunningham on December 15, 1945 in Winnebago after he was released from his Iowa based Navy Flight School. She worked as a homemaker, legal secretary and at Lloyd Hearing Aid. Ruth enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, floral arranging, playing the piano and was lead soprano and soloist at the First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford. She delighted in cooking dinners for pastors, international guests and her family and enjoyed trips with her husband and the boys to California to visit her family. Ralph and Ruth lived their entire lives in the home that they built in Winnebago. Her love for Jesus, Ralph and her family sustained her throughout her life and for more than a decade with Alzheimer's.

Ruth is lovingly survived by her sons, David (Joan) Cunningham of Pecatonica, Richard Dick (Nicki) Cunningham of Seguin, TX; grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Gearhart of Winnebago, Tyson (Lori) Cunningham of Winnebago, Richard Eric Cunningham of Seguin, TX, Jennie Heiman Cunningham of New Braunfels, TX; great-grandchildren, Madisyn and Micah Gearhart, Tayla and Trenton Cunningham and Craig Heiman; several nephews and nieces.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Ralph Cunningham on November 3, 2011; brother James Campbell; sisters Jean Daugherty and Mary Woodward.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago with a visitation 10:00 a.m. until service time with Pastor Tim Spickler of New Life Bible Church, Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery near Winnebago.
