Winnebago - Ruth Millicent Utech Dunbar, 84, of Winnebago died Friday, February 27, 2015, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, Rockford. Born January 22, 1931 in Chicago the daughter of Emerson "Ted" and Sylvia (Pearson) Ottens. Ruth married Raymond A. Dunbar in Florida on December 14, 1988. Previously married to Lloyd M. Epperson and Wayne R. Utech. Ruth worked for Swedish American Hospital, Excello Manufacturing and the Robin Drive-In Theater, all in Rockford, and was a cook at Vianney Oaks for retired priests. Ruth was a Boy Scout Den Mother in Winnebago. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rockford since 1946 and transferred to Aldersgate United Methodist Church in 2011. Ruth was a member of the Roscoe VFW 2955 Auxiliary, VFW 8416 Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary 392 in Rockford. She dearly loved attending her children and grandchildren's school activities and sports events.

Ruth is lovingly survived by her sons, Marty (Maggie) Utech of Rockford, Darrell (Sheila) Utech of Machesney Park, and Ted (Dala) Utech of Roscoe; daughters, Michele (Chris) Wiencek of Sterling Heights, Mich. and Dawn (Michael) Tracey of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Julie Snyder, Darrell Utech, Jenifer (Greg) Stivers, Stephanie (Matt) Numrich, Jason, Nathan and Kyle Utech, Mathew Smith, Lindsay (Nathaniel) Hays, Angela Retherford, and Amy and Michael Tracey; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Johnston of Beloit, Wis.; special niece, Linda (David) Stojkovich of Elgin; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Helen Barnhart of Rockford.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband; Raymond A. Dunbar on April 10, 1990; parents, Emerson Ottens and Sylvia Ottens Boyschou; brothers, Harry and Jack Boyschou; sister, Barbara Boyschou; granddaughter, Amanda Tracey; paternal grandparents, Victor and Lillian Ottens; maternal grandparents; Swan and Josephine Pearson; self-adopted parents, Bill and Beatrice Williams and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral Information

Service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in Genandt Funeral Home 602 N. Elida St. Winnebago Rd., Winnebago, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Douglas Williams, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Rockford, will officiate. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery.
