Obituary for Stephen R. "Steve" Leden

Loves Park - Stephen R. "Steve" Leden, 41, of Loves Park, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 7, 2007. Steve was born May 15, 1966, in Rockford, the son of Diane (Hodgdon) Leden and Richard A. Leden. He grew up in and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1984. Steve married his beloved wife, Karin "KK" Nivinski on May 22, 1993, in St. Bernadette's Church, in Rockford. He was a field machinist at Orbital Tool Technologies in Belvidere. Steve was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park. He was a hardworking adventurer, who enjoyed woodworking, vacationing, outdoor activities and sports. Steve loved NASCAR, the Bronco's and most of all playing with his two beautiful daughters, Paige K. and Ashtyn Ann. Relatives and friends could always rely on Steve to fix anything that was broken. He was a fun loving father, husband, brother and brother-in-law with many friends. He will be greatly missed.

Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Kay; loving daughters, Paige K. and Ashtyn Ann; mother, Diane (Steve Knott) Leden of Pecatonica; father, Richard Leden of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Kelly (Dennis) Wilder of Albuquerque, N.M. and her children, Easton and Lauren Wilder; grandmother, Jeannette Hodgdon of Winnebago, mother and father-in-law, Nancy and Charles Nivinski of Rockford; brother-in-law, Dan (Rhonda) Nivinski of Queen Creek, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Jody (Shirl Boomer) Small and her children, Ryan, Erin and Cory Small, and Jill (Joseph) Giacomazzo and her children, Kolton and Tucker Smith, all of Rockford, and many cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

Steve was predeceased by his grandfather, Paul Hodgdon; grandparents, Howard and Evelyn Leden and uncles, Dennis Hodgdon, Bob Leden and 1st Lt. James Ascher.

Funeral Information

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Dr. William Richard Kerr, Sr., pastor of Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park will officiate. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, in Rockford.
