Obituary for Susan Marie Eikstadt
Loving Daughter, Sister & Best Friend
Winnebago - Susan Marie Eikstadt, 53, of Winnebago, died Saturday evening, July 5, 2008, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a sudden illness. Born August 23, 1954, in Rockford, the only daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Dunmire) Eikstadt. She did her best to keep up with her three brothers. The early years spent on the farm in Winnebago seemed to be Sue's favorite time. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1972 and then from the Rockford Vo-Tech L.P.N. program in 1974. Sue was a licensed practical nurse at Rockford Memorial Hospital for 25 years and was truly a "nurses' nurse". Sue's humor and warmth healed the body and soul of all she encountered. She ended her nursing career at P.A. Peterson nursing home, caring for Alzheimer patients. Sue enjoyed stamping cards and crafting. Heaven is a better place today, but here our hearts are aching.
Sue is lovingly survived by her best friend and mother, Dorothy Eikstadt of Winnebago; brothers, Alan Eikstadt of Winnebago, Keith (Sharon) Eikstadt of Lena, and Mark (Marie Lindgren) Eikstadt of Byron; and nieces and nephews, Andy (Tanya), Sarah, Rick, Matt, Sara, Emily, Austin, Amanda, Ashley, Alix, and Austin; grandniece, Anna; and grandnephew, Justin.
She was predeceased by her father, Bob Eikstadt on July 24, 1997.
Funeral Information
Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. At Susan's request, cremation rites were accorded. Private burial of ashes in Willwood Burial Park, in Rockford.
