Obituary for Terry J. Pierce
Rockford - Terry J. Pierce, 73, of Rockford, died Thursday evening, December 16, 2010, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. Born on March 18, 1937, in Rockford, the son of Joseph and Jane (Hudson) Pierce. Attended Harlem High School. Terry married Sharon Vaught on December 29, 1987, in Janesville, Wis. He owned and operated A-1 Refrigeration for over 35 years. Terry was a Shriner for 49 years, and was a member of the Illinois and Wisconsin American Paint Horse Associations. He built Terron Stables in 1986. Terry's passion was caring for the horses, dogs and cats.
Terry is lovingly survived by his wife, Sharon Pierce; children, Michael Pierce, Joseph (Lorrie) Pierce, Jaci (Peter) Perez, Kelli (David) Yager, Patrick Pierce, John (Kari) Pierce and Mari (Doug) Frenk; stepson, Gregory (Vanessa) Vaught; grandchildren, Ashley, Chad, Jessica, Amanda, and Molly Pierce, Traci (David) Johnson, Heather (Nicholas) Short, Lindsey Perez, Grant and Kelli Noelle Gordon, Maxx Frenk, and Kory Vaught; great-grandchildren, Caden and Brooklyn Short, and Jack and Claire Johnson; and the mother of his children, Patricia Barr. He was predeceased by his parents; infant son; and granddaughter, Staci Gordon.
Funeral Information
Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. At Terry's request, cremation rites were accorded.
