Rockford - Todd Steven Engels, 45, of Rockford, died early Tuesday morning, November 20, 2007, in Advocate South Suburban Hospital, in Hazel Crest, after a short illness. Born July 1, 1962, in Freeport, the son of Virgil Engels and Sandra (Donald) Bowen Ozburn. He graduated from Guilford High School in 1980, where he played football and was a class officer. He then graduated from Rock Valley College and attended University of Illinois Chicago campus. Todd worked in sales of communications electronics. He was a Democratic precinct committeeman in Rockford and attended St. James Catholic Church. Todd played the guitar and loved music of all kinds. He enjoyed sports and was a big Chicago Bears fan.
Todd is lovingly survived by his daughters, Kirstin and Britta Engels; and the mother of his children, Rebecca Engels, all of Rockford; parents, Sandy and Don Ozburn of Winnebago; brother, Michael (MaryHadley) Ozburn of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Susan Campbell of Rockford; nephews, Henry Campbell and Will Ozburn; nieces, Lucy Campbell and MaryBlythe Ozburn; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Todd was predeceased by his grandparents and father, Virgil Engels.
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation 9:00 a.m. to service time; the Rev. Robert Sweeney, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pecatonica, will officiate. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
