Born December 1, 1911 in Butler, Ind., the daughter of Freeman and Ethel (Huntington) Fifer. Graduated from Butler High School and the nurses training program at Bethany Hospital, in Chicago. She especially enjoyed cooking (for many years provided home-made popcorn balls at Halloween to the children of the Seward community), entertaining at the family weekend home on Lake Delavan, Wis., and being a part of her church and community.
