
Vivian Lucille Emmert, 96, of Winnebago, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Prairie View Assisted Living Community in Winnebago. She was born July 13, 1926 in Rockford, the daughter of Edward and Ruth (Todd) Carter. She graduated from Hononegah High School in 1944. Vivian married Donald Ray Emmert on October 11, 1946 in Owen Center Township, IL.
Vivian was an ever present spectator at her children’s and grand-children’s sporting events and activities. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Pamela Langholf of Winnebago; son, William (Sue) Emmert of Winnebago; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Koning, Erik Langholf, Brandon (Lindsay) Langholf, Maurisa Langholf, Ashley (Jessie) Carter and Jordan (Courtney) Emmert; great-grandchildren, Breanna Koning, Brittani (Sid) DeVries, Corbin (Micaela) Langholf, Dalton (Alexis) Langholf, Logan Langholf, Ethan Langholf, Kaeden Langholf, Nicholas Langholf, Gracie Langholf and Colton Carter; great-great-grandchildren, Jeilyn, Lucas and Kayce DeVries, Mason and Paxton Langholf; sister, Dorothy Noegel; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Vivian is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Donald Emmert; brothers, Floyd Carter, Robert Carter, Donald Carter and Lawrence “Shorty” Carter; sister, Edith Matteson; grand-daughter-in-law, Stacy Langholf; Ethan’s and Kaeden’s mother, Megan Wells; and infant great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Paige DeVries.
Cremation rites accorded with interment at Winnebago Cemetery. A family gathering will be held at a later date. A memorial will be established for the American Cancer Society. The Emmert family can be reached at P O Box 241, Winnebago, IL 61088.
