Obituary for Wanda Lee Reynolds

Wanda Lee Reynolds, 95, of Winnebago, IL, gained her beautiful angel’s wings, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL peacefully with her beloved family by her side. Wanda was born on November 6, 1927 to Leland Theodore and Mildred Charlotte (Swenson) Nelson in Rockford, IL. She graduated from East High School in Rockford in 1945.

After graduating, she worked at Knox Motors in Rockford, IL where she met her husband Harry “Butch” Everett Reynolds. Wanda and Butch were married September 13, 1947 in Rockford. They started farming in Oregon, IL, then years later purchased their farm in Winnebago, IL. They had four children Kathy, Chuck, Sue and Jan. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper at her father’s business, Universal Pattern Works in Rockford.

To know her was to love her… Wanda immediately lit up any room she entered. She was such a classy woman that touched so many lives. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Wanda had an incredible love for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She hardly missed a Cubs game and was a die-hard fan! She was so blessed to see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016.

She truly enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Blueberry Lake in Couderay, WI. Wanda was a member of the Middle Creek Presbyterian Church near Winnebago and sang in the choir over 60 years. She enjoyed being an Elder, Mariner and attending Circle. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, playing cards (she was the card shark), casinos, knitting, playing the piano, and entertaining family and friends.

The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice & Home for their wonderful care of Wanda.

Wanda is survived by her children, Chuck (Jo Ann) Reynolds (Oregon), Sue Lancaster (Winnebago), Jan Fletcher (Winnebago), son-in-law, Denny Miller (Morrison); sister-in-law, Lynne Nelson (Rockford); grandchildren, Monica (Mike) Rasmussen, Harry Ray Miller, Jenny (Dale) Ralston, Angela (Damian) Acosta, Brian Lancaster, Chris Fletcher, Kelly Fletcher (Torrence Griffin); step-granddaughters; Denise (Larry) Schultz, Darla (Chris) Crescenzo; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Eric, Emily, Austin, Jalen, Kobe, Adrian, Kirah; great-great-grandchildren, Ezra, Silas, Luka; several nephews and nieces; and her special “Puppy Dog Max”.
