
Obituary for Warren W. Carlson
Winnebago - Warren W. Carlson, 85, of Winnebago, died Monday evening, February 18, 2008, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after suffering a massive stroke. Born May 12, 1922, in Winnebago, the son of Walter and Florence (Weber) Carlson. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1940. Warren married his loving wife of 62 years, Darlene Dahlgren on October 2, 1945, in Shirland Methodist Church. He farmed his entire life in Winnebago. Warren was an active member of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, a charter and 50-year member of Mariners, and served on the session and member care. He also was a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer and was a member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau, Winnebago County Pork Producers, Federal Land Bank, Westfield Community Center, Klehm Arboretum and served as president of Blackhawk Orchid Society. Warren was a dedicated supporter of Stronghold, in Oregon, serving on their board for many years. He enjoyed being surrogate grandpa to the Kantorei Choir. Warren was proud of his family and dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to travel with his family throughout the states and traveled to many countries, and he loved to write about his family and farm history.
Warren leaves his loving family, including his wife, Darlene Carlson; children, Ann (Michael) Cunningham, Kristine (Daniel) Bomgarden andBruce (Sharon) Carlson; daughter-in-law, Merri Carlson; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of Winnebago; two brothers; three sisters; many nieces and nephews; dear friend, Ed Swanson; and dog, Benji.
Warren was predeceased by his parents; son, Richard Carlson; and a sister.

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2008, in Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Road, Winnebago with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Anita Stuart-Steva will officiate. Burial in Middle Creek Cemetery, in Winnebago. Visitation is also 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2008 in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
