
Obituary for Wayne Keith Mennenga
Wayne Keith Mennenga, 80, of Pecatonica, died Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. He was born May 8, 1942 in Freeport, the son of James Marvin and Iva Orletta (Reemtsma) Mennenga. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard serving from November 5, 1963 to November 22, 1965. Wayne married Jean Louise Crouse on January 21, 1967 at Winslow Methodist Church.
He farmed until 2018 and was a DEKALB Seed dealer. He was a member of the Seward Congregation Church where he served on several boards, the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Pecatonica Lions Club and 4-H. Wayne enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, 8000# stock diesel truck pulls and traveling.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Mennenga of Pecatonica; son, Brian (Brenda) Mennenga of Pecatonica; daughters, Betty (Ross) Kendell of Pecatonica, Brenda Thomas of Kilgore, TX; grandchildren, Kirsten (Drake Peterson) Kendell, Ashton (Richie Thompson) Kendell, Austin Kendell, Mikayla (Robby) Bundy, Seth Thomas, Miah Thomas, Spencer Murphy-Thomas; sisters, Eunice (Norman) Miller of German Valley, Diane Klinefelter of Shannon; sister-in-law, Helen Mennenga of Blue Eye, MO; several nephews and nieces.
Wayne is predeceased by his brother, Merle Mennenga; brother-in-law, Roger Klinefelter.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Seward Congregational Church, 3029 S. Pecatonica Rd., Seward with Pastor Joel Hicke and Earl Klinger officiating.
Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2022, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
Interment at Silver Creek Cemetery in German Valley. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
