
Winnebago - William D. Fay, 60, of Winnebago, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 28, 1954 in Rockford, the son of Donald and Jeannette (Newberg) Fay. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1972 and Rock Valley College with an Associate Degree in auto mechanics in 1974. Bill married Marcey Fraley on January 1, 1993, in Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, Winnebago. He was a mechanic for 30 years and upon retirement worked at Honeywell for the last eight years. Bill enjoyed playing darts and participating in dart leagues when he was younger, but his favorite thing was skiing. He was able to enjoy many ski trips with his buddies and several with his wife. Bill dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities.
Bill is lovingly survived by his wife, Marcey; daughter, Maisie (Eduardo) Sanchez; stepchildren, Renee (Brian) Bederka and Gregory (Angel) Abate; grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Sanchez, Evan and Olivia Bederka and Alexys and Morgan Abate; mother, Jeannette Fay; sisters, Donnette (Steven) Nailor, Merrie (Wayne) Shiparski and Peggy Eikstadt; mother of his daughter, Jody Fay; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Don Fay, on June 21, 1991.
Funeral Information
Memorial service is at 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2014, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until service time; the Rev. Ed Greenfield, chaplain of OSF Hospice, will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.
