Obituary for William Reece Morrison

Rockford - William Reece "Bill" Morrison, 78, of Rockford, died early Wednesday morning, November 30, 2005, in his home. Born July 5, 1927, in Rogersville, Tenn., the son of William Oscar and Dessie Mae (Light) Morrison. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Bill married Carla Bailey on November 2, 1957, in Dubuque Iowa. He worked for Amerock Corporation for many years and retired from Brinks, Inc. in 1992. Bill was an avid bluegrass music fan and played the fiddle in the Otter Creek Boys Band. He loved to read, particularly western books and loved to watch western movies.

Bill is lovingly survived by his wife, Carla Morrison of Rockford, sons, Roger Adams of Ridott and Dennis Morrison of Pecatonica, daughter, Jeneen Moore of Kingsport, Tenn., grandchildren, Jennifer, Kellye and Ashley Morrison of Pecatonica, Jimmy Adams of Freeport and Jeff Adams of Baileyton, Tenn., great-grandchildren, Chastity and Samantha Adams of Freeport, stepmother, Fannie Morrison of Kingsport, sister, Lucille (John) Alvis of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, and son David Adams.

Funeral Information

Service is at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, where friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Major Frank Johnson, pastor of Salvation Army, in Rockford, will officiate. At Bill's request, cremation rites were accorded.
