Obituary for Lueva Irene (Parker) Brauer
Winnebago - Lueva Irene (Parker) Brauer, 89, of Winnebago, died Wednesday morning, November 11, 2009, in the home of her son, in Troy, Mo., surrounded by her children. Born December 30, 1919, in Rockford, the daughter of Vilas and Huldah Jane (Hanford) Parker. Raised in Lincoln Park; confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church, Rockford; and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1937. Married Harold E. Brauer on February 9, 1940, in Messiah Lutheran Church and farmed in Winnebago all their married life. Was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school, choir member, Mary Martha Circle and very active in United Presbyterian Women. Also was a member of Winnebago Garden Club, Winnebago and Rockford card clubs, and Winn-Boone Holstein Club, and was a volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital for many years. She loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events. Her passion was working side by side with her husband in her large flower and vegetable garden and graciously hosted garden walks that were open to the public at the family farm.

Lueva is lovingly survived by her children, Randy (Pat) Brauer of Orangeville, Parker (Mary) Brauer of Troy, Mo., Connie (Chas) Chaney of Sterling and Allyn Brauer of Fox Lake.; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, DuWayne Parker, of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Brauer; daughter, Cherie Brauer; brother, Philo Parker; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Brauer.

Funeral Information

Service is at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009, in First Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Winnebago Street, Winnebago, , with the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
