Obituary for Bessie M. Remer
Winnebago - Bessie M. Remer, 103, of Winnebago died Tuesday evening, April 11, 2006, in Alpine Fireside Health Center, in Rockford. She was born February 4, 1903, in Rockford, the daughter of Charles Lester and Lulu Maude (Truckenmiller) Lohman. Bessie married Louis C. Remer on February 15, 1922, in Belvidere. He died May 10, 1984. Together, they farmed many years on Cunningham Road. She also was a cook at the Traveler Restaurant, in Rockford. Bessie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active with its Fellowship Supper Club and church circle. She was a member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau and enjoyed the activities of the Winnebago Senior Citizens. Bessie's family wishes to thank the staff at Alpine Fireside Health Care for their care provided.

Bessie is lovingly survived by her son, Roger (Pauline) Remer of Winnebago, daughter, Donna Joyes of Machesney Park, grandchildren, Roxanne (John Matzke) Campbell of Austin, Texas, Gerald (Janet) Joyes, Suzanne (Jeff) Mock and James (Karen) Joyes, all of Roscoe, Terianne (Scott) Westling of Beloit, Janice (Brian) Collins of Rockford, Scott Remer of Winnebago, Nancy (Thomas) Schwartz of Machesney Park, Ronald (Patti) Remer of Higley, Ariz., Richard (Charlene) Remer of Winnebago, Patricia (John) Adams of Rockford and Pamela (Ro) Nguyen of Roscoe, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several foster great-grandchildren.

Bessie was also predeceased by her infant son, William Remer, son, Lester Remer on January 30, 2001 and brothers, Vernon, Clyde and Edward Lohman.

Funeral Information

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2006, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation 10:00 a.m. to service time; the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, in Rockford.
